Jared here, Jared thereby, the readers of Rock One enjoy themself to the full. It was found in recent Rock One Awards, where 30stm fight with Green Day, Paramore and many others, the best seats. For a "best of" in Rock one, his presence in one of this series is not discussed more. For or against the Band's musical evolution,the fans of the first hour or "echelon" of the recent summit (very present on the album "This Is War"), it is clear that the band has in recent months, be talked about. But can you blame talented musicians with a such activism in the doldrums of the record industry when it was also worthy songs and epic music videos. The Leto brothers & co have been present as only Americans know how to do it: with panache and an unerring sense of the event.
And throughout the period of the output of this wonderful third album, Jared has shown a rare civility and elegance with us, hosting a team from Rock One at his home in the Hollywood Hills to listen to earlier drafts of the album would be later than more important and by offering an incredible interview with the journalist on the eve of his concert at the Elysee Montmartre, on last November the 18 , An interview that you book here almost in its entirety, illustrated with a series of previously unpublished photographs. "This is war" was one of the most acclaimed and ambitious LP this year, let us not mince words. Neither Jared Leto or his band could say the contrary. Waiting for the next show in paris On March the 5th, the band talks about his doubts and his faith in the future.
We had heard a lot about Jared Leto, often described as a megalomaniac despot, head slaps, pretentious and unpleasant. We take place in front of him expecting the worst and as often happens in these moments, the best happens, the boy has spirit and concept of the second degree of his own. Like many, he likes to retort the ball he throws, simply. He is happy to be here and seems fairly calm since peace has returned to the clan of 30stm. In Office, Jared apologizes for not being able to separate from his blackberry during the interview "Sometimes when I am doing interviews, things make me thinking of song lyrics. You are talking about your life, you are talking about important things, as you may recall others. the ideas often arise from these occasions », explains the singer before his brother confirms : » he take all the time notes ".." always "Jared nods," You never know, I'll take notes and write a song about you may be " .
An interview ahead in the best of moods despite the tiredness of a long day of promotion, which ends for the group.
You are in France and as obvious as it may come oute, can you talk about "Night of the Hunter"?
J: Tell us what you think.
S: What kind of emotions you feel?
Even when the girl says "1,2,3,5 .."
S: it is confusion!
J: Why not? it's a secret I can not tell you
Well I guess. After I have also thought that Americans are stupid and can't count ..
J: you ooh we've had! We said that during the registration! I laughed everytime in the studio imagining the French people exclaim "OMG Americans can't count"
The strangest thing is still the final sentence: "I'll fuck you like the devil"
S: tell me on because I don't know what it means
It's a joke?
S: Jared did not ever want to tell me he expected a French person does.
J: You know what you have to do
I'll fuck you like the devil
S: Wow this is sexy
J: Now you're aware!
Otherwise, the album begins and ends with the singing of Tibetan monks, it had to be a great experience to record
S: it was amazing I will never forget that moment. The energy they give off with their song is unique, having them in the house was a dream.
J: It took a year to find, real Tibetan monks we managed to bring with us, it's something!
S: Yes of authentic, not monks of venice beach. It is a spiritual album.
J: Much has been talked about faith, belief. It is also a very carnal album, something that differentiates it from what we had done before. Explore new areas is exciting. A song like SIASL should give you want to kiss your man and even more.
There are many dualities in this album: war and peace, life and death, hope and despair, faith and disillusion,,
J: Yes it's clearly thinking very intelligent.
S: That's really what I feel while listening to a musical point of view.
J: We didn't want to do a rock allbum. We wanted to go further than that, do something that has no boundaries.
And do you have succeeded?
J: this is not for me to decide but the intention is there, after the result is for the listener.
Exactly, there is a ocazie in the studio when you decided to say that the album is finished?
J: oh no you must to tear it from my hands !
S: You can spend your life on a project. it's art, you can paint and constantly add colors, change the cover. You are obliged at some point to abandon your work. This disc is very different. because we've already worked with the producer Flood. He really added something. He led our ideas in the right direction. It is incredible.
J: And Steve Lillywhite was the best person for the finishing touches.
S: On this album we knew exactly what we wanted everything was calculated and tried.
And what were your intentions?
S: we wanted it to be the most authentic, cinematic, ambitious as possible. We wanted it to be direct.
J: Yes, very "in your face". But as an album that breathes, we didn't write beautiful pop songs. We wanted this record is a journey. For us it was time to push the walls. It will be very exciting to play on stage.
There were real moments of doubt, when you wondered if you will be able to success?
S: Oh yes!
J: Of course. it was totally crazy. it was not easy to cover the spectrum of our emotions. we really screwed our guts in this disc.
S: we will release a documentary about the making of the album. We did it in a time when the world ran to his loss with the financial, global crisis, global warming. We had a new president, new battles, alongside that, we were pursued by EMI, it has spent so much.
J: We financed this record, there was no label behind us. we paid everything by ourselves. we installed a home studio in our house, this record has really done in a spirit of survival, it almost killed us, we failed to burst so it was a test and the most important investment of our lives.
S: it's a part of the métamorphosis and evolution. these things are not made without pain.
It's something we feel in listening, it can be exhausting and stressful ..
J: You've exhausted awesome!
S: I see what you mean, it reminds me of when I listened to "the wall" by pink floyd, younger, it could be exhausting ..
J: exactly!t it is hard! if you had the same effect listening our album and listening "the wall" is great!
S: Led zep also with "the song remains the same" you dive in and take your imagination and the power .. look, he is taking notes. Imagination takes power, it's the title of the next song for sure !
Besides this, there are primarily anger and a sense of urgency that stands out "this is war" from its predecessors ..
J: thank you, that's really what we wanted, so we can cause this kind of reaction is great. I don't know what to say. It was time for us to reinvent ourselves and put the bar higher. It was time for processing, the rediscovery and I hope that people will travel with us, it would be nice.
S: Feeling the energy during the last concert comforted me. When you leave something of your guts, your soul, your heart and you feel that people attach importance and are ingsing with you is indescribable, it fucks me chills.
Especially when the writing process is as puternice and intimate
J: Yes clearly
S: Having the CD in hand and share it with the world is a bare for us, we feel very vulnerable. It's exciting but it shows that what we made during the last two years is not nothing.
J: I think you hear on this disc, a band who his skin changes and metamorphoses. This is when we are most vulnerable. The caterpillar transforming into a fluturel is a sensitive stage and fragile but full of opportunities.
What would you say to those who thought that you would not go further than a first album?
J: it's amazing what time and dedication can do. I think this record will surprise and shock, I hope anyway. I think many more people will take responsibility for love 30stm. And then there will always be those who say: "Oh, I also liked the two previous albums, I've always been there!"

Stop! I want success
Jared doesn’t give up. Snobbed as an actor, he smashes in as a rocker.
And now he tries again with a new movie which is already a cult. But it’s not an ambition. Everything begins from the hippie’s time…
He just acted in a movie called Mr.Nobody and for Jared, eternal promising actor in Hollywood, this title sounds just like a fate’s trick.
To stop from being nobody he did everything and more: he played several hard roles (he excessively gained weight for Chapter 27); he gave his soul in movies like Girl, Interrupted , Fight Club and The Thin Red Line; he’s been directed by Oliver Stone (Alexander). But Nothing. On his side Brad Pitt and Agelina Jolie became famous, and Leto has been left standing. Moral: he resigned to a not so relevant acting career and he started playing rock. With his brother Shannon, he created 30 Seconds To Mars and…surprise! The band just broke out, it’s one of the most loved band among rockers. We met Jared in Los Angeles and we approached just talking about movies, about Mr. Nobody, which it’s about to come out in our theatres.
- With this movie you will conquer once and for all the screens.
J “To me it’s just a movie like many other I did, it’s a movie that talks about taking choices…this is the story: Nemo Nobody (nemo in Latin means nobody) lives an ordinary life with his wife and kids, till he wakes up in 2092 at the age of 120. The last mortal in a future of Immortals. In this future, Nemo starts questioning himself if he lived the right way, if he loved the right woman, if he made the right choices…”
- Did you ever query yourself about it or if you are enough confident about yourself not to ask too much?
J “I have a fairly good opinion of myself, but yes, I’m a man who’s used to question a lot. Someone who thinks of life like a journey and in this journey has the good habit to always ask the classic question: “What if?”, what could happen if…and then decide for it.”
- Then choose: are you an actor or a musician?
J “No dramatic crossroads. I’m just an actor quite unemployed to whom, from time to time, someone offers a role in the most bizarre movies of the history of cinema of all time”
- Is it difficult to combine both careers?
J “Yes, some times. Unfortunately days have only 24 hours. We have to make a sacrifice” (he smiles)
- But which was your first love?
J “Neither movies or music. My first love has been painting. I still look after the estetică of everything about 30 Seconds To Mars. Besides, when I was young I used to live among artists, musicians, photographers, actors and dreamers of every nature. I grew up in one of the post-hippie communities where there were no boundaries between arts”
- Does it come from this circle the love for stories out of the ordinary?
J “From my curiosity/wonder. I always look for roles different from myself. It’s like enter in the house of a stranger and sit on his sofa. I feel really funny and challenging hunting high and low in someone else’s life. Instead, it’s stupid to play a role of a man in jeans and shirt like me with a tattoo on his wrist…”
- On the wrist? Your tattoo, which seems a weird cross, takes almost half of your forearm! What does it mean?
J “I can tell you. But it’s a secret, a real secret. Then I should kill you” (he smiles)
- Got it, but I try again. Does it have any philosophical meaning?
J “Almost there: I do read philosophical texts, books are a good inspiration. When I dip into books like Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (the masterpiece of a charismatic Russian writer and philosopher) it feels like my brain will explode, it’s like I’m training my mind.”
- Was it really you playing the old Nemo in Mr. Nobody?
J “Yes, after 6 hours of make-up to which I processed every day for 6 months. And at the end, I looked like my grandfather. Obviously the make-up artists did an amazing job, but the rest of the bet was linked to my ability: if it’s evident that you are a young just made up like an old man, you ruin everything.”
- You never save yourself from anything. You gained 44 lbs to play in Chapter 27. Did you ever think that these kind of sacrifices for a movie are a little extreme?
J “Yes, I did. And I answer myself that I’m a perfect idiot. I still have health’ issues for having put all that weight: my back is not the same now. And to play the old Nemo I spent every night screaming to get a rude voice…and on top of that I’m a singer. In sum: I act like an idiot. Sometimes I think if I was a better actor I shouldn’t put myself through such a tour de force.”
- Are you the kind of actor who used to watch his movies again and again?
J “No, shooting is such a deep experience than after that I don’t want to know anything more about it.”
- You never did a movie that really exalts your beauty.
J “Are you saying that I’m gorgeous?” (and smiles for the third time)
- Of course
J “The fact is that I wanna make only movies I would like to go out and watch myself. But you never know, maybe the next one will be a comedy produced by a major with a big budget.”
- Money are not a priority in your life, isn’t it?
J “If it was so, I was a broker.”
- Then, which is your priority?
J “ For example, the environmental commitment. The video A Beautiful Lie has been shot in the Artic and speaks out against the global warming. It’s been a little frenzy.”
- Which is the craziest thing a fan did for you?
J “Many of them get my name inked, usually on their arm or neck. Someone comes from Japan just to see one show of my band. Somebody else even told me 30 Seconds To Mars helped him surviving in the desert, hopeless, with his car broken down. Now I wait to see what the Italian fans would tell me.”

am si eu un poster cu ei , insa doar 1  desi sunt o mare fana de muzica insa mai bine zis am fost avea 2 cuti mari pline cu bravo popcorn si coolgirl imi luam in fiecare saptamana sau la 2 saptamani cum aparea ,insa cu timpu mi-am pierdut interesu acuma iau revise de moda , nu stiu ce am patit , dar daca nu are nimic de 30 seconds to mars nu iau .

30 Seconds to Mars have, with Jared Leto in the front, managed to conquer the world with their genuine rock and fantastic appearance.
The trio is dedicated and committed in everything they do, and their latest album ”This Is War” is, according to them their greatest in their career so far. OKEJ sat down with guitarist Tomo Milicevic to hear if this really was true.
Jared is the brain behind everything!
Is ”This Is War” your best album so far?
-When it comes to the songwriting and the sound we’ve chosen, the result is completely different to what we’ve previously done. Jared’s writing has become a lot better. We have all become better at what we’re doing. And by the end of the day, that’s what matters.
Why did you decide to have 2000 different album covers to “This Is War?
-We’ve always tried to share what we do with people, invite them instead of pushing them away, you know?
We invited people from all over the world to participate during “The Summit” when we worked with the album. They could participate in the recording and see how far we’ve come. 1000 fans came and contributed with vocals to our songs on the new album! That’s when the idea to Faces of Mars, as we call it, was born. That was our way of thanking our fans all over the world!
So Jared had a big importance in this experiment?
-Absolutely, he is the brain behind everything. He really is a man with a plan. He’s the one who comes up with all the autentic ideas for our songs and writes everything. Jared runs all the shit in the studio too, haha!
What song are you the most proud of?
-Personally for the band I have to say ‘Alibi’, we recorded it live and that was a big thing for us to do that! Then I really love ‘Night of the Hunter’!
It’s now been 3 months since you released your album, are you just focusing on the present or are you already planning the next album?
-No, right now we’re only focusing on the tour but…Jared always write, all the time. Haha!
Are you helping any kind of charity?
-Yes, absolutely. Since the earthquake on Haiti we’ve done a lot. We use the audience to reach out and act together with them, we try to unite people in this. Everyone should help!
How does it feel to be recognized wherever you go?
-Me, recognized? Well, I can say this: if someone recognizes me it would be 30 Seconds To Mars fans and no one else. I’m happy I get to travel around the world, work with music, meet a lot of people and still be me. It’s the greatest thing there is. Jared however…Haha!
He get recognized a lot, huh?
-Yes, he does! Everyone knows who Jared is!
Have you ever had groupies?
-Not me. I have a girlfriend since 9 years back and stick to her. I get along fine there, if you know what I mean.
When it comes to questions about Jared and Shannon’s private life, Tomo doesn’t want to answer at all. He laughs and tries to wave away all the curiosity
-You have to take the girlfriend question with them, but I don’t honestly think anyone cares if they have one or not. Do you think?
Of course! But…would you as a musician ever date a fan? Ever been through some really bad pickup lines?
-You can fall in love with anyone, whether it’s a fan or not. Concerning the pickup lines…a “Hi, how are you?” is enough, if you feel something for someone you don’t need any typical lines.
Back to the tour. You are coming to Stockholm in just a few days, do yo know any Swedish?
-I actually have a Swedish friend in Los Angeles, but he has not wanted to teach me any Swedish. Maybe it’s because I’ve refused to teach him any Croatian. Can you teach me?
Around here we are abruptly interrupted by the record label that says – last question)
Tomo tells us he’s only been to Sweden once before, in Stockholm, related to their last tour when they opened up for Linkin Park.
Despite that, he only have nice things to say about the people and the city. On the question whether they’ll play their hit songs ‘The Kill’, ‘From Yesterday’ and ‘Kings & Queens’ at Fryshuset, he responds;
